DimDim – WebEx killer?

DimDim launched a web-hosted version of its free, open source based web meeting solution. The service is zero download and runs fully within the browser supporting presentation sharing, desktop sharing as well as voice, video and text chat.

The demo itself was very impressive but it is even more so up close and in person. DimDim is fully functioned and free! The company was funded in part by Draper-Richards who were also the original seed investors in Skype.

DimDim is well worth a look – the web-hosted version of their service is just entering closed beta and you can sign up for an invitation at their website.

The company will support a free version of the service and sell full support by subscription much like MySQL or RedHat. They also intend to license their technology so that licensees can brand their own versions of the service.

Very cool!
